Haul and Collection: Guerlain Meteorites Compact, Perles and Primer!

It's the time of year when lots of department stores have their big beauty offers on, which is bad news for my bank but good news for my loyalty card points. That is how I justify it anyway! Currently Debenhams is offering £7.50 of points on a £50 spend and House of Fraser is offering 10 points per pound. I also still get student discount on House of Fraser which is helpful! Therefore I decided to pick up a few things that I had been looking at, two of which were Guerlain. Then I decided to do a little chat and review about the products in my collection from Guerlain which I haven't blogged about before.

So I guess you could say I like Meteorites
So after that completely rambling intoduction lets have a look at the Meteorite collection from Guerlain.

I have already blogged about some of my Guerlain products before, the lipsticks can be found here and here, and my Les Violines Quad here.

So I already had the Meteorite Perles in Teint Rose. These are one of Guerlains signature products and come in three shades, as well as a special Holiday Version which is still available. I have it in the 'lightest' shade and each different colour serves a different purpose.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles Teint Rose
Green for colour correcting, pink for a glow to the skin, purple to attract light, white to lighten and illuminate and gold to add a subtle sparkle. All in all it means when you swirl your brush in it and dust it over your face it gives your skin a 'airbrushed' finish in that it hides imperfections. This effect is very subtle but it absolutely does as it is supposed to. Your skin just looks glowing and more flawless. It has a similar effect to that of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders, but without the specific lighting affects Hourglass describes. These are just a general powder to give your skin a wow factor. You can use any large powder brush (or even a blush or bronzer brush) I do have the Meteorite brush and it works just fine, but I mostly got it because it is pretty. I'm shallow.

Meteorites Brush, Perles Container and Meteorites Compact
Admittedly one of the main pulls for Guerlain is the packaging. Don't get me wrong the products are extremely high quality and work wonderfully, but the packaging is a cut above most other high end brands. The enamel work on the Meteorites tins is absolutely stunning, which led me to purchase the pressed Meteorites powder compact.

Okay I get it, you're pretty.
I got this from House of Fraser during the offer so whilst it was pricey at £94 (including 10% student discount) I am getting £9.40 back in HOF Recognition points which softens the blow slightly. The compact is heavy, feels very luxurious and is gorgeous, hands down. The only colour this is available in is Mythic which matches my Teint Rose perles, with the colours doing the same, mauve to brighten, pink to refresh tired complexions, green for redness correction, white to bring light to the complexion, champagne to bring sparkle and pink-gold to warm fair complexions.

Far too beautiful to use!
The plus point for this compact in my eyes is that it is refillable. Why spend almost £100 on a compact that you will use up (and this will definitely get used all the time!) You can buy refills for this compact of £33 so the compact itself is a one time investment piece.

I also have the primer from the Meteorites collection. I am admittedly a bit of a primer junkie, and I am planning on doing a 'Primer Showdown' once I pick up the Hourglass Mineral Primer. Again the packaging on this is wonderful and I love all the little pearls in the glass bottle.

All of my Meteorites
This bottle has a pump which presses all the pearls together into a liquid primer for the skin. It gives a very luminous finish so not for days when you want a matte look!

All of this chat about Guerlain's amazing packaging is going to finish with a bit of a bump. When I head Guerlain were bringing out cream blushes, called Bubble Blushes, my heart skipped a beat. I could just imagine stunning cream blushes in stunning packaging like all of the other Guerlain products. When I saw the final product I felt a bit disappointed. White plastic with a clear plastic top wasn't what I had come to expect from Guerlain. They are cute, don't get me wrong, but not the luxury I had come to expect from Guerlain. However, Memebox fans may realise why I decided to pick up the last Cherry Bubble Blush from Debenhams whilst making my £50 order for the Beauty Club points. It may look familiar!

Cute but not luxury!

These seem to be sold out at places that sell Meteorites so perhaps they are being repackaged. No swatches of this yet as I am waiting for the Korean dupe to see how they compare!
So that is all for today! As I said I have been pretty naughty recently and will have some items from the MAC Keepsakes collection, Lipstick Queen, some more Burberry lipsticks, a Yves St Laurent foundation overview and my first Tom Ford lipstick to blog about!

  1. I'm a Guerlain fan but the Korean brand A'Pieu also has blush perles which I love and are way less expensive. :-)
